DAIRY EMPLOYEES.
To the Editor. Sir, —After reading your paragraph re a meeting of dairy factory employers at Hawera, one cannot help noticing the different attitude taken up by the employers compared with a few years ago. They didn't want a union, and all believed that a fair wage was paid. After declining to meet the employees in conference a few months ago, they draw up a scale of wages on their own standard. The next scene will be employers going, cap in hand, to the employees asking if they will accept this scale of wages. One wondeTS where they got the privilege of saying what the wages should be. And what are the employees going to do about it? Will they accept, without a murmur the offer or stick to the position they took up in the autumn! The result will be watched bv many who are not employees or employers. What could be the object of holding the meeting in camera? Surely the schedule will be interesting! Individual employers need have no fear of boycott; they "may just as well have admitted the Press. Awaiting the outcome. —f am. etc., '■ ARD-COILLE."
