ROYAL PICTURES.
At ttie change of programme to be presented by the Royal Pictures and Orchestra at the "Sweets" matinee thus afternoon, Messrs. Crust and Gjcdsted nnnouncc the first appearance here of an entirely new dramatic subject in the fonmi of a pathetic comedy-draima entitled "The Squatter and the Clown." It is a typical story of the bush and is redolent of Australian life in the back blocks. The remaining portion of the programme is said to be the most attractive yet seen in "New Plymouth, and includes) an extra edition* of Pathe's Animated. Gazette, depicting this year's English Derby. The crowd at Epsom, the arrival of his Majesty the King, the parade of the Derby candidates, the start, the race rounding Tottenham Corner, and the finish, together with scenes and events on the course, are all vividly depicted. A fine colored scenic study of the Solomon Isles will also be included in this rare selection of subjects, "Bablas inherits a Panteher" is pronounced to be the greatest comic picture ever produced, and will be slkvwti this afternoon for the first time. The balance of the programme includes the following: "Hotman Nicolaieff," "A Gambler of the Wesit," "A Swiss Country Wedding." "How the Rug was Laid," "A Dog Worth Having," "Backed up by Influence," and "The Shyness of Shorty." The box plans for this fine series of pictures are now open at Hoffmann's'.
