The death took place of Mrs. W. J. Williams yesterday at her son's residence, Petone.

An Adelaide message reports the death, at the age of ninety years, of the Rev. Alexander Low, father of the Presbyterian Church. i Mr. H. M. Skeet, Commissioner of Crown Lands for the Southland district, was in town yesterday, and leaves again for the south this morning. A Feilding telegram reports that the death took place this morning, pf Mrs. P. B. Fraser, wife of the Superintendent of Home Mission Work of thfeF -Presbyterian Church of New Zealand.'"'

At a late hour last evening the condition of the Mayor,; Mr. G. Tisch, was ,reported' by Dr. Fpokes to be entirely 'satisfactory, and after the operation he enjoyed a most valuable sleep.

The following have been appointed Justices of the Peace:—Charles Andrews, Ohafcoj Henry Baversfcock, Tongaporiitu; Michael Fleming, Pimgarehu; Alfred Guy, Kaponga; George Loveday, Ohura; Thomas Stanners, Eltham: Willinim Whitton, Oka-n; Paul Wilcox, Rahotu; William Kelly, Awa-kino; and Alfred ClotSiier, Warca. The Rev. Ooinrie, who was to have preached in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church to-morrow cvereinsr, telegraphed last night that both he 'and the Rev. Dawson will attend the late Mr. T. R Taylor's funeral in Chxistehuivh on Sunday, and have therefore cancelled their X«v Plymouth engagements. The Rev. B. Hutson will occupy St. Andrew's pulpit in Mr. CVimrie's s\cad. Mr. Hutson, who is now in charge <yf the church at Brookla.nd, Wellingion, was for some years the minister in charge of the Presbyterian Church at Stratford.
