TAURAXGA WATER SUPPLY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Tauranga, Last Night. The contract for the Tauranga. water supply i» now completed, and the water was turned on this morning. A good display was made, giving a. pressure of 1201bs. to the square inch by a tested gauge. A fire hose was used, and watei sent over the highest building. The main line and reticulation aggregates sixteen miles. The contract was carried out by the Meplian, Ferguson Steel Pipe Co., Wanganui. Mr. H. Munro Wilson, of Auckland, was the engineer. The cost to the borough will be ajxrat £12,000. REGISTERED BARMAIDS. Wellington, Last Night. There arc 801 names on the barmaids' register published in the Gazette tonight. ANTI-MTUTAIUSM. Wellington, Last Night. A meeting of prcsons opposed to compulsory military training to-night decided to form a Wellington anti-conscrip-tion league, and officers were appointed. The meeting was at times very rowdy, only about half of those present being in favor of the movement. The supporters of military training were asked to withdraw, and they left the room singing the National Anthem. Cheers were given for compulsory military training, the Empire, and General Godlev. The object of the league is to get into touch with other centres and organise a gigantic conference. CHRISTCITURCH ROAD SCHEME. Cltristchurch, Last Night. At a small polling on the late Mayor's road scheme to-day the proposal was rejected by a two-to-one majority.
