Leach, after evading the polioe, entered Niagara in a steel barrel and was carried over the Horseshoe Falls, reappearing a few seconds later with part of the end of the barrel damaged. Leach was rescued fifteen minutes later with his kneecap broken and badly bruised, but otherwise uninjured.
