The Cardiff strikers, including a formidable hooligan element, made a concerted attack on the skating rink used for the quarters of the imported Metropolitan police. The riot continued throughout Saturday night. The police drove the mob from the street, but broken bottles and bags filled with stones necessitated truncheon charges. The police were also struck by dozens of strikers' fists. Many shop fronts were wrecked, and Uie windows of private houses broken. Twenty police were seriously hurt. B<m Tillet speaking at Victoria Park to the Transport Workers' Organisation, said they had more power to stop food supplies than all the Dreadnoughts in tin? world. They are to-day conferring with capitalists representing £1,000,000,000. There must be no hesitation, and he asked all the transport workers to support the London stoppage.
