MR. LLOYD-GEORGE'S INTIMATION. CONTINENTAL CRITICISM. By Cable—Press Association—o)pyrighf, Paris, July 23. The newspapers welcome Mr. LloydGeorge's statement at the Lord Mayor's banquet. Berlin, July 23. Berlin newspapers reproduce Mr. Lloyd-George's statement under the headlines: "For whom is the warning meant ?" The Lokal Anzeiger, of Cologne, says it is scarcely permissible to attribute to Mr. Lloyd-George the intention of interfering with Franco-German negotiations, which are secret, and he is incapable of such indiscretion. AUSTRIAN VIEWS. GERMAN CLAIMS DEPRECATED. Received 24, 9.30 p.m. Vienna, July 24. JMuch attention is being devoted to Mr. Lloyd-George's speech. The Neue Freie Presse is surprised at the vehemence of the Chancellor's tone, and says the speech is ft determined attempt to influence the international conversation in Berlin. It deprecates the German claims, and encourages France and shows that Germany's aolonial expansion in Africa cannot be accomplished without peril.
