RIOTING AT CARDIFF
THE POLICE POWERLESS. By Cable.—Pre#* Association.—Copyright London, July 21. Twenty laundries at Cardiff were wrecked, and rioting occurred throughout last night. The police were powerless, owing to the simultaneous movements of malcontents, some rioters firing the laundries and looting the clothes, while others robbed the tills. Fire hundred Lancashire Fusiliers havo arrived, and others are in readiness. Martins, shipowners, of Cardiff, have recognised the union. POLICE CHARGES. Received 23, 5.5 p.m. London, July 22. The seamen's strike at Cardiff is settled, but the seamen will not resume until the other workers' grievances are remedied. During the rioting at Cardiff mobs stormed the police stables, but were repelled by repeated baton charges. There were numerous casualties.
