ENTERTAINMENTS.

| JACK AND THE BEANSTALK. | "Jack and the Beanstalk," the pantomime that will be played here on Mon- ! day, August 7, at the Theatre Royal under the direction of Mr. J. C. Williamson, is a wonderful creation even in this day of daring pantomime enterprises. For "Jack and the Beanstalk" Mr. Williamson searched the world for features I and attractions, and when anything won- [ derful was struck it was at once secured. - Thus in the coming extravaganza there are many remarkable features for which I the author, J. J. llewson, is not responI sible. Prominently amongst these may be noted Willy Panzer and company, a I combination nf astonishing acrobats that i have created » most extraordinary sensaI tion on the oilier side. Of the company that will sing, dance and make merry I throughout the burlesque, special engageI ments have been made of artists possessing real top-notch reputations. .Mr. Jack Cannet is a comedian who has played pantomime dames from since when he can hardly remember, and besides being a humorist of a refreshingly original type, is also the possessor of n wonderfully good tenor voice. Miss Mabelle Morgan is probably the beau ideal of a pantomime boy, as is Miss Dorothy Firinin of an extravaganz girl. Of the Dohcrty sisters report speaks highly. They are said to be the best exponents of high-class vaudeville seen in Australia for many years. "Jessie the Cow" will be played by Mr. William Hassan, a potent factor in the general amusement scheme. There are a number of beautiful ballets, including that of the Beanstalk, the "All Nations," the "Military Ballet," the "Dance of Follie." the "Doll Ballet," and | the grand divert.isnient of the "March of the Wines." There are 10 big scenes, all of which require the full depth of the stage. The dressing and general costume scheme is said to be exceptionally fine. Numerically, the organisation is about the largest that has so far toured the Dominion with pantomime. It has been called by critics on the Australian side ''The best ever." The season will be for one night, and the box plans will be onened at Collier's on Thursday, \u»ust 3. '
