FAILURE TO REGISTER. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Friday. At the Police Court Edward Drummer, aged fourteen, appeared on a charge that he had failed to enrol as a senior cadet under the defence regulations. The boy's father stated thai his son had asked his instructions. He objected to militarism on principle, and asked that the fine should be small. The magistrate said he had nothing to consider beyond the fact that the boy haxl failed to register, and imposed a fine of £2 and costs. He ad'vised the father to let his son register in order to save a further prosecution.

PROBATE DECISION. Wellington, Friday. The Full Court gave judgment to-dfty in an application for probate of the will of James McDonald, late of Hamilton, laborer, who died in October, 1000. The estate was valued at £l6O. The Episcopalian and Wcsleyan Churches at Ngama/wahia are the residuary beneficiaries. By a majority finding (Judges Dennisiton, Edwards, Chapman, and Sim) the court upheld the contentions of Mr. Mac Donald, solicitor to the Public Trustee, and granted probate on a power of attorney executed as a will and containing testamentary directions. The Chief Justice dissented.
