A London cable states that Lerd Kitchener sails for Egypt in September. The Governor (Lord Islington) left Wellington to-day for Auckland. He is " to open a new savings bank building there to-morrow, and will return to Wellington oil Monday evening. Mr. Walter Wright, at present dairy produce grader in charge ait Patea, has been appointed inspector of New Zealand dairy produce in London. He will take up his new duties before the coming season commences. Mr. J. B. Connett, the chairman of the Board, and Mr. E. Maxwell have been elected to represent the New Plymouth Harbor Board at a conference of the Harbor Boards' Association should such a conference be decided on.

Four medical men yesterday held a consultation and decided that Mr. 6. Tisch, the Mayor, must undeiflo an operation in order to regain his health. Mr. Tisch has therefore agreed that the operation shall be performed at the public hospital on Monday next.

Mr. Leonard A. Watson, wtho ha* lieen first assistant at Mangorei dairy factory, leaves next week for New " South Wales, wliere he has received an appointment as butter-maker at the Oessnock Dairy Factory. His place at Mangorei will be taken by Mr. G. Williams, of Hawke's Bay.
