At Los Angeles the efforts to commit Mrs. MeManigal for refusing to give evidence against the McNamaras during the grand jury investigations has failed, the Judge holding that the wo:mau was not bound to give evidence, as she was the wife of an accused person. McManigal's evidence, which has just been published, contained an alleged confession by James McNamara to McManigal, admitting that the McNamaras destroyed the Times building. The confession was made in November last.
