IN THE UNITED STATES. By Cabk—Press Association—Copyright, Washington, July 19. Senator Smoot is about to introduce a new wool tariff revision measure with the support of the Administration. The Bill is intended as a substitute for the Democratic Wool Bill, and fixes the same rate of duty on first-class wool as the La Follette measure, so long as it maintains the price at 22Va cents per pound. The rate is 9 cents per pound on first-class wool in the grease, the same rate on second-class, and 0 cents on third-class wool. The washed wool rate is doubled, and tlie scoured wool rate trebled.
