COAL VEND CASE.
FIFTIETH DAY'S PROCEEDINGS. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright, Received 18, 9.25 p.m. Sydney, July 18. To-day is the fiftieth day of the proceedings in connection with the vend case. Mr. Campbell continued his address. He considered the practice of sharing trade amongst owners not objectionable under the Act. It did not rerestrict outputs.
His Honor said some mine 3 were able to produce cheaper than others, and therefore could supply cheaper. Mr. Campbell admitted that the Maitland mines produced cheaper than the Newcastle; also that Maitland could supply the whole demand. That, however, would mean closing the Newcastle mines. Continuing, he said the agreement between the mine-owners and.the shipping companies was justifiable, ensuring the latter of a continuity of supplies and preventing unjust cutting.
