TURKS AMBUSHED. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Vienna, July 17. The Mussulman clan which Djavid Pasha disarmed and ill-treated, but subsequently re-armed against the Catholic Malissori, ambushed Edhem Pasha's column near Ipek, and two hundred Turks were killed or wounded. Armed Mussulman Albanians at Ferisovitch, Presshtina, Mitrovitza, Cumanosa, and Ipeck have joined the Catholic Malissori. Turgut Shevket Pasha caused some Mussulman tMalissori at Coplik to be arrested and killed, believing that they were Christians.

ANXIOUS FOR SETTLEMENT. Received 18, 11.30 p.m. London, July 18. Mr. McKinnon Wood, in reply to Sir James Hope, said the Government was most anxious from every standpoint, including the Ottoman Government's, for a settlement of the Albanian troubles on liberal and generous terms. Any prolongation would cause grave anxiety to the Powers desiring to see the strength and credit of the Porte established and peace secured in the Balkans.
