Refugees report that the trails are strewn with the bodies of prospectors. It is estimated that about 500 people perishe<l and 20,000 are homeless. The llames swept a tract 10,000 square miles in area. CARNAGE IX THE STATES. New York, July 14. ( For three days forest fires have been raging in Michigan. Seven persons are known to be dead, and scores are missing. The loss is estimated at .€2.000,000. An area of 1000 square miles was swept bv the flames.
