AN UNUSUAL CONTEST.

JUI-JITSU v.. BOXING. By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Melbourne, July 13. Rhima, the Japanese jui-jitsu expert, defeated' Howard, the boxer, in two of three contests. Howard, though handicapped with eight-ounce gloves in the first bout, knocked out the Japanese in a minute and a quarter. After a spell Shitna threw himself feet foremost at the boxer and got the scissors grip, nearly breaking Howard's leg. He repeated the move a second time.

It was not a pretty contest, and the methods shown are unlikely to become popular in a civilised country.
