HEAVY TRAFFIC BY-LAWS.
At the meeting of tho Taranaki delegates from local foodies, the following proposals were agreed upon:— TWO-WHEELED VEHICLES. Two-wheeled cart or dray carrying a load of—--scwt. to 1 ton, 3in tyres. I ton to li/, tons, V/.'m tyres. IVs tons to 2 tons 4in tyres. 2 tons to 2 l / 2 tons, oin'tyrcs. 2'/ 2 tons to ,3'/ s tons, 7in 'tyres. No two-wheeled cart or dray shall carry more than 3% tons. FOUR-WHEELED VEHICLES. Four-wheeled vehicles carrying a load of—
scwt to 1 ton on each pair of.wheels, 3in tyres. 1 ton to 1% tons on each pair of wheels, 3y 2 in tyres. IV. tons to e tons on each pair of wheels, sin tyres. 2 tons to -2\'., tons on each pair of wheels, (iin tyres. No four-wheeled vehicle shall carry more than 2'/ s tons on each pair of wheels. The schedule framed for the computations of loads is as follows.New Zealand timber, 400 superficial feet, one ton. Australian timber, 350 superficial feet, 1 ton. One cord firewood, 25cwt. One cubic yard gravel or stone, 25cwt. 350 bricks, i tons. 1L sacks wheat, 1 ton. 14 saeks oats, 1 ton. j 12 sacks potatoes, 1 ton. j 11' sacks maize, 1 ton. : 30 sacks oaten sheaf chaff or 50 sacks straw chaff, 1 ton. l'Vi cubic yards or 10 sacks coal, 1 ton. 1' gallon milk, lOlba. These proposals will be submitted to all the councils which were summoned to the conference, and it hoped that by these means uniformity will prevail throughout the Waitotara, Patea, Hawera, Waimate, Egmont, Stratford, laranaki and Clifton counties. Regarding motor regulations, tho following resolutions were passed:— 'That each council bo recommended to take action to become a registered authority under the Motor Regulation Act, 1908. and tftit all motors in the county be registered and carry their registered number/' "That in all eases motors shall take the outside of the road on all side cuttings, but shall abide bv the rule of tlie road in all other cases'."—Star.

The remainder of the by-laws were let as tkey stood. Members were unanimous in making the above altera, lions.
