HOCKEY.
TARANAKI ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the Taranaki Hockey Association. was held in the Borough Council Chambers last evening. Present: Messrs. Kemp (Hawera), Barnard (Eltham), Priest (Inglewood), Curtia (Stratford), Ralph (Waitara), and AVood (New Plymouth. Mr. Wood was voted i*to the chair. Cerrespondence was read.
The secretary's action in regard to affiliation with the New Zealand Hockey Referees' Association was confirmed.
The correspondence between the Stratford and Otakeho Clubs regarding the forfeiture to Stratford by default was read. As the secretary of the association hid had no notice of protest, the match will be played at the end of the second round fixtures. .
The report and balance-sheet of the hockey tournament were adopted. association passed a very hearty vote of thanks to the tournament committee for the manner hi which they had conducted the tournament and dance. , It was decided to send a team for Wanganui to play for the Norden Cup 011 August 10, and a trial match is to be phiyed at Hawera on August 9 to'pick a team for the Wanganui match, The following selectors were appointed: Southern division, Messrs Anderson and Thomson; northern division. M'essrs. J. Harris and H. Beal. Mr. Pratt, of Haw»ra, will select the rep, team. The association will send a team to Opunake to play a match on a date to suit tlie sub-association.
Taranaki will send a tea-m to Wellington to compete for the No. 2 Hockey Challenge Shield. Auckland will play k rep. match at New Plymouth against the Taranaki team, and arrangements are being made to get Otago to play a match here as they are rvassin'a through to Auckland. ' °
