(From Our Own Oorrwspond««t.) At the montkly meeting of the above Board there were present: Mr. .T. Connett (chairman), and Messrs. French. Hall and Tnrnbull. Correspondence was read from Mr. F. Merrin, resigning the position of pound keeper as from July S; from Mr. F. Wilson, re suing for native rates; from Mr. W. Clare, forwarding items of_accou.pt for repairs to Kelly bridge; from Waitara Borough Council, stating that grant for upkeep of Belt road was not due until next November; from Agricultural Department acknowledging receipt of letter re spread of noxious weeds in the district; from tin* Clifton County Council stnting that letter're contributing ~£<>o towards metalling road leading l« Waitara river at Huirangi. would be considered at their next meeting; and from Mr. J. Wilcock requesting that royalty on metal taken,,from ■ Levers pit be in future paid to him. The chairman reported that Mr. French and himself had interviewed Mr. Montefiore about repairing the Te Arei iroad, and had obtained a signed agreement from him that temporary repairs would be done at once, and that six inches of crushed metal should be put on within four months. Resolved .that the chairman's and Mr. Frenehe's action be confirmed. Mr. Hall reported that Messrs. Dobson and Baird had seen him and wished the putting in of culvert on the Everett road left] over until next summer. Agreed to. Mr. French reported that Sisson Terrace would require ploughing, and it was decided to instruct the surfaceman to do some and also to level portion <jf road adjoining Mr. Mohnes, provided he clears same. It was resolved to accept Mr. Merrill's resignation as poundkeepcr, and to appoint Mr. F. Lownsborougli to act until next meeting. The clerk was directed to ask Mr. Tate. !*> grade the. Wortlcy road as soon as he can; also to give him no!ice not to cart boulders over the Kuraka road during the winter. Surfaceman Palmer reported that W, Cartwright had completed the Kelly road contract, having delivered a total of 'M2 yards.. The whole of tho "metal dumped on the Waitara road has been spread. Haskell has most of the metal tor repairs to To Arei road broken in the pit. and it will be put -on the road in a day or two. Part, of the redoubt at Huirangi has been levelled and the creek bed altered; hut with regard to the proposed drain, Mr. L. Andrews objects to this, as he has filled oni! in at the same place, so that ho can cut the blackberry with machine. The. Kairau road requires forming along Mr. F. Hoskins' frontage. Wooden wings have been erected on Kelly road bridge. The pipe culvert, which was broken on the Waitara road has been moved about a chain higher up the road, and is now perfectly safe. A general rate of five-eighths of a penny in the pound was struck for the ensuing yea)-. The surfacemen were directed to get. cut metal from Uoskins" and Levers' pits. Accounts amounting to -<-.a> were (passed for payment.
