SEVERAL RIVERS BANK HIGH. By Telegraph—Press Association. Palmerston North, ULst Night. Heavy rain has fallen throughout yesterday and to-day, and in consequence nil rivers have risen. The Tokomaru river is*said to be higher than it has I'etn for many years, while the Pohan£ina and Oroua are also in high flood. TV Manawatu river is running bank high, and reports from Ashhurst state that it is still rising. The road between Ashhurst and Palmerston is unocr water. A washout occurred on the railway line near Maharahara, between Dannevirke and Woodville. As a consequence the goods train from Palmerston to Hawko's Bay was held up at the washout on the Woodville side, and the passengers on that tram and also on the evening Waipukumu train to Palmerston had to cross the washout, each train returning from whence it came.

WANGANUI RIVER RUNNING HIGH. AVangiiniii. Last Night. Heavy rain fell steadily from early morning till about 3 o'clock this afternoon. The river is'running high, but no damage has been done.

INCESSANT RAIN IN WAIRARAPA. Masterton, Last Night, Very heavy ami incessant rain lias fallen in this district during the last twenty-four hours, nearly three inches being registered. Most' of the rivers are in a high state of flood, and slips have come down in parts, hut no serious damage is reported.

MANY BOATS DELAYED. Wellington, Last Night. Continuous steady rain at Wellington throughout to-day considerably hampered cargo handling. The departures of the following vessels were postponed till to-morrow: Rosamond, for Onehunga, via way .ports; Koonya, for New Plymouth and West Coast;' Haupiri, for Picton. East Coast and Auckland; Kiripaka, for Wanganui and Ptea; Tongariro, for Lyttelton; Ascot, for Lyttelton and Dunedin; Aorcre, for Patea; Wakau, for Kaikoura and Lyttelton; Queen of the South, 'for Fox-Ion; Opawa, for Blenheim; Moa, for Waugsinui and Itlcitheini, for Blenheim.
