Lord Roberts telegraphed to Mr. Fisher, Commonwealth Prime Minister: "I, together with the whole National Service League, send warmest congratulations on the commencement of the training of the youth of Australia under compulsory service conditions. I wish your Commonwealth nJI success." Mr. Fisher replied: "All Australians will be pleased to read your telegram."
