Says the Auckland Herald: —Although no official information is yet to hand, it is stated by local officials of the Union Company that the "Rosamond, now trading between Wellington, New Plymouth and Onehunga, will .replace the Squall in the trade between Auckland, Tolago Bay and; (jisborne. It is probable that the Squall, on her return to Auckland from Oisbonic, will be laid up for overhaul.
THE MARGIT. Discharging "operations were commelic-' ed on the Margit on Friday afternoon, two of the Harbor Board cranes working the vessel. It is hoped to get through about *2OO tons of cargo por day. Unloading and the taking in of ballast is anticipated to occupy four or five weeks, 'wtoen the vessel sails for Australia, whero she is to load wheat for the United Kingdom. Option is held for three ports, Melbourne, Ooelong or Adelaide.
THE ROSAMOND. The Rosamond arrived on Saturday morning from Onehunga and loaded a little over 30 tons of cargo, sailing about noon for Wellington.
AX UNFORTUNATE VESSEL. The Wliangaroa, which was wrecked while on the voyage from Mokau to Sydney with a cargo of timber, has had many misfortunes, including the following:—August, 1894, stranded at Hokitika. July, .1807, stranded at the mouth of the Manawatu river, whilst inward bound with a ca-rgo of coal from Newcastle. October, 1898, stranded on Kvans Reef, Kapiti Island. April, IAO 7, whilst bound to Sydney from Wangape with a cargo of timber was in collision with the Italian barque St. .Joseph. The Wliaiign roil was towed into Sydney in a partly dismasted condition. June, 11)08, dismasted and towed into Wellington, whilst on a voyage to Sydney. February, 1011, stranded oil North Spit, Karamea, whilst entering that place to load a cargo of timber for Sydney.
It will be remembered that the Wliangaroa was the first vessel to bring the news about the break-down of the Perthshire whilst on a voyage from Australia to New Zealand in '1899.
