Sir James also dealt at considerable length with native land matters and with the famous Mokau Jones case. At the conclusion a vote qf thanks to the speaker arid confidence in the Government was moved. An amendment proposing a vote of thanks only was negatived, and the motion carried by an overwhelming majority.
