A number of free laborers have surrendered their contracts and left the district. Crushing nt some of the mills is proceeding with the assistance of farmers. A free workers' organisation has been formed at Mackay. The strikers are receiving good financial support from other unions. Mr, Tudor considers the outlook serious, and fears growers will be unable to get all the cane off the fields this season.
