SMITHSON TO HANG. By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright. Received 7, 12.25 a.m. Perth, July 6. Smithson has been sentenced to death for the Woodlupine murder. An IS years old girl named Co?npton during May was found dead in the scrub near a house at Woodlupine. where she was a domestic servant. She had been strangled, and there were evidences of a violent struggle. She had been seen talking to a swagman near the spot where her body was ultimately found, and as he disappeared after her death he was at once suspected. The police and black trackers succeeded in running Smithson down, and when he was taken to gaol the public had to be restrained from wreaking . 'canee on the supposed murderer.
