A CHIEFTAIN'S DEMISE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Pahiatua, Last Night. Nireaha Tarnaki, chief of the Maoris at Hamua, is dead, aged 75. He was of the Rangitani tribe. GIRLS' STRIKE EXDED. Duncdin, Last Night. In connection with the strike at the Roslyn Woollen Mills, a conference was held to-day, and the matters in dispute were adjusted. The dispute related to the apportioning of work. Work will be resumed to-morrow, and the two girls over whom the trouble arose will be shifted to another department.
