BOXING
WELTER-WEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP. I By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The secretary of the Wanganui Association has written to the New Zealand Boxing Council, stating that the welter-weight professional championship was not at stake when W. B. Burns and D. Murphy met at Wanganui on May 24th last. As Burns, the •winner, was |2%lbs. over weight, it was decided that ' the title should revert to T. Tracey, of Wellington. It was decided that it was an offence against the competition laws for a competitor to oil or grease his face.
