Sir Roibert Stout, 0..!., returned to Wellington from Karotonga yesterday. A Sydney cablegram reports the death of Sir Charles Cordon, Bart., of heart failure. Mr. E. C. Isaac. Inspector of Technical Schools, is at present in New Plymouth on his annual visit of inspection of manual and technical classes. Mr. J. Maclean Auld. who has bought Berber's Up-to-Date drapery business, has left New Plymouth for a holiday in Otago before taking possession. Admiral Togo, who is in London, attended the Old Hoys' dinner in connection with the Worcester training ship, on which the Admiral was a pupil. Prior to the commencement of the ordinary business at the Taranaki County Council meeting yesterday, the chairman tendered a welcome to Councillor Geo. W. Browne, the new representative of the llurworth riding, remarking that Mr. Browne's lengthy experience on local bodies should stand him in good stead here, and render him a very useful member. Mr. Browiib fittingly acknowledged the welcome.
