Vardon and Massey tied with 303, Hilton and Herd were next with 304, and Braid and Bay 305. Scott (Victoria) was fortieth with 320. [Last year Braid won the championship with a score of 299. Braid has won the championship four times out of the last six, and Massey and J. H. Taylor on the other two occasions.] TAEAHUA CLUB. During the week the Tarahua Club has secured the lease of their present links, together with land adjoining, on which nine additional holes will be laid. The lease is for a term of five years from next year, and the club has the first option of the property as a golfing course for an additional five years. The new country is very suitable for golf, and is now being cleared and drained preparatory to it being ploughed and put into grass. It is expected the grounc will be ready by March of next year With an 18-hole linics the club shoulc make greater progress than ever. Its finances are in a buoyant condition, ant it is intended to devote further atten ' tion to the present holes, increase th( size of the pavilion, and generally maki the links as up to date and attractivi as possible.
