MATTHEW'S AND BENNETT. Messrs. Matthews & Bennett report that there was a very large entry of cattle in their Inglewood yards on Wednesday last. Prices were* on the move, and most lots changed hands at the following prices:—Weaners, 28s to 30s; store cows, £3 to, £3 ss; good steers, £3 8s to £3 10s; heifers, £3 7s (id to £4 3s; springers, £0 7s Sd to £/ ss; dairy cows, £4 to £7 ss; ewes, £4 4s to £5 11«. N.Z.L. & :.i.A. OO.'S REPORT. The N.Z. Loan & Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Stratford branch, report:— Since our last report we have disposed of a considerable number of 18-month steers at up to 07s (id, and 2'/ 2 -year steers at up to 82s Od, also several' iines of lioggets at 9s. Lambs are being more sought after, and have improved in value from Is Od to 2s periiead. Weaner.s are also very firm, and during the last few days we have disposed of several lines at up to '43s per head. On Monday last we held a clearing sale at Mr. John Robertson's, Kinnerty road, when there was a fairly, large attendance of buyers. . The ; 'dairy stock, although unfavorable reports had been circulated about them, realised good prices, cows making from 170s lo tias per head. The sale watt-considered a •mod one. The demand for sheep was keen, bidding being animated, and, with the exception of one pen, we effected a total clearance at an advance on the late ruling rates of from Is fid to 2s per head, the rise being particularly marked in breeding ewes and lioggets. The bulk of the cattle yarded were dairy cows, mostly of rough quality, which failed to meet with a ready market, most of them passing at auction.
