f- * " r SUMMARY AND FORECAST. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington. Last Night. The Meteorological Office has issued the following summary and forecast: — barometer pressure has decreased everywhere, and the storm has developed in the north. South-easterly winds, strong to gale, have prevailed in and northward of Cook Strait, and variable winds elsewhere. Rain has fallen in the far north and on the East Coast northward of Kaikoura. Present indications are for cold and damp weather generally. Heavy rain may be expected on the East Coast northward of Kaikoura, and rain is probable over the North Island. South-easterly winds, strong to gale, are probable northward of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura, and moderate to strong easterly winds prevailing elsewhere. The barometer has a Blightly falling tendency, but will probably 'rise again shortly.
