GOLF.
A new method of handicapping is as follows: It is on the bisque system, and is said by one man who has 'tried it to be "the most satisfactory svstem of handicapping that he has 'happened upon." The back marker allows his opponent a certain number of strokes, which can be taken at the option of the receiver, but not on the green. Thia is to say, that should the giver of strokes reach a green in two, and the opponent be short with the like, the opponent may elect to take a stroke, declaring his intention, however, before playing his next shot. It follows that a bisque with this restriction is not worth as much as one that can be used in the ordinary course, when the decision is reserved until the halls are holed out.
The latest golf story:—Two ladies, one a seasoned golfer mid tin- oilier a beginner, had played their approaches to & Mind hole. On, coming; in sight of. the green the former exclaimed: "Ah, there we are, lmt its looks « dead stymie!" The other, sniiluig the nifr suspiciously: "I thought there wag a; had smell somewhore!"
