Following is the Government Meteorologist's weather summary and forecast: —Easterly and southerly winds, strong to gale, have prevailed northward of Cook Straits, and moderate to strong southerly winds elsewnere. Cold and showery weather has prevailed, especially on the east coast and in the northernmost district. There has been little improvement of the barometer. Present indications are for strong south-easterly winds inland northward of Cook Strait, and variable winds elsewhere. Cold and damp weather, with rain, is probable in the north, and cold and changeable weather elsewhere. The barometer shows a slightly falling tendency this evening.
