Griffiths and 00. are in receipt of the following market report from their London principals. Messrs Mills and Sparrow, dated May 10, mil: The weather during the past few weeks has certainly been favorable for tne pastures in this.country, light warm rains having fallen,..with_, plenty of sunshine, but to-day a cold' north-easterly wind is blowing. _[ ri , _ , Danish: The quotation'has beten reduced three kroner. The demand 'has been none too good, as the quality is rather poor. It will be quite another two or three weeks before we get fult grass quality, and then we shall soon get an improved demand.
I Siberian:* Only about 2000 casks arc to hand this week. Various reports are about ns to the coming season, and it is difficult to get any reliable information as to the quantity that is to come, and buyers, fearing a vory large make,, are holding off the market. Australian: The Otway, Afric, Bovic, Carpentaria and : Marathon have all d'wcharged their cargoes this week, and although there has been a very good demand, it has been nothing like sufficient to enable .sellers to. clear. As already reported, buyers are nervous of taking finy stock until they have an idea of what the European supply is likely to be during the next few moivths. The supply from Ireland and France, although rather late, is now steadily increasing, nnd prices are coming Jhore in! a line with other kinds, so that these butters must now claim attention. The quality of the best brands of colonial butter, however, is exceptionally good, and in our opinion compares very favorably with the new makcj but for secondary' sorts it is rather another matter, as at this time of the year the public Will have butter with a clean flavor, so these seconds are exceedingly difficult to sell: in fact, it is almost impossible to clear them as they land, so that there are a good few carried over from one week to another. New Zealand: The trade has now got into very small compass, owing to the small arrivals. The Ruahine, which orings about 10,000 boxes, is now in dock, and there is no'doubt that these few butters will soon be cleared by those buyers who like to continue using this butter as long as it is on the market CHEESE. ' Canadian: Trade has'again been quiet and prices are about'ls easier on the week. .New Zealand: Unfortunately some of the cheese ex the Corinthic did not. land in very good order, quite a few factories' landing in a heated condition, and it has now been necessary to sell these as soon as possible. This, combined with the slow trade, has not helped matters, and prices to-dav are Is to 2s easier FROZEN PORK. Owing to continued warm weather prices remain low and unchanged.
