In the House of Commons, while discussing the Home Office Vote, Mr. Lyttelton sharply criticised Mr. Churchill's use of his prerogative in not refraining from appeals to the gallery, particularly regarding the "Dartmoor Shepherd.'' He also criticised his conduct in the Ton-y-Pandy riots and the Sidney street affray (Houndsditch riots). The reduction in the vote was rejected by 173 votes to 143.
