DAIRYING IN AUSTRALIA.

TESTING COWS AND HIGHER WAGES. By Cable—Press Association—Cop right Sydney, June 24. At the conference of the dairying industry speakers said that the demanded by the Rural Workers' Union could not be paid and leave any profit. If the increased asked for was granted it would mean a decided check to the industry. A solution suggested was the recording of the individual results of the cows of a herd, by which means soon more than double the return per cow would be obtained. If this was accomplished the demand for increased wages need not cause worry. The conference appointed a committee to enquire nnd report on the demands. A discussion took place on the admitted marked deterioration in richness of the New South Wales milk supply in recent years. It was claimed that it was the result of dairymen giving all their attention to producing quantity ■without any regard to quality.
