POLITICAL.
MR. MASSEY AT PUKEKOHE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. Mr. Massey, Leader of the Opposition, opened his campaign in his own constituency this evening at Pukekohe, and received a cordial reception. Mr. Massey replied to the speech given from the same platform by the Hon. G. Fowlds a few weeks previously. He dealt with the .statements of the Minister in favor of single tax, which he strongly condemned, saying it was either robbery or insanity. lie said that the Hon. ft. Eowlds had been almost as misleading in his remarks on land valuation as on other subjects. In many cases tke valuations were too high, but by using figures that were live or six years old the Hon. G. Fowlds had presented the position in a more favorable light. During his journey through the Dominion he (Mr. Massey) found that a great majority of the people were in sympathy with the Opposition, for they realised it was doing the best for the country. The Opposition endeavoured to secure clean, honest and economical administration.
