The Meteorological Office has issued the following summary and forecast:— The barometer began to rise about midnight on Wednesday, and southwesterly winds, strong to gale, have prevailed since, with cold, showery and changeable weather generally, though very, fine in parts at times, especially on the East Coast. Present indications are for strong southerly winds generally, with cold and changeable weather, and squally in Foveaux Strait. The barometer will probably rise everywhere.
