ENTERTAINMENTS.
THE ROYAL HAWAIIANS. The Royal Hawaiian Musical Organisation, which opens here on Wednesday night at the Theatre Royal, is composed of ladies and gentlemen with the highest mental attainments and musical ability, who present an entertainment I that an enthusiastic American reporter described as a whirlwind of passionate outpouring of music and dance, veiled with daintiness and good taste. The company arrives fresh from a tour of aesthetic successes throughout America and Australia, where they have been winning the greatest praise for magnificent performances, which nave for their' essentials the charm of novelty, expressive native music and songs, and spectacular native dances. Combined ] ! with these are the very latest English I and American songs, duets, glees and I chorus successes of the world's concert platforms. The whole performance is so distinctly novel, and is presented with such a remarkable completeness, that it makes a direct appeal to the musically inclined. The Royal Hawaiians are regarded as the most attractive combination of musical artists that has ever left the Pacific Islands, and their entertainments have created a sensation throughout America and Australia. The outstanding features of the evening's performance, however, will he the chorus work and the orchestral selections of Hawaiian and American music by the company's mandoline and guitar band. "THE SCARLET TROUBADOURS." Those who have recollections of the pleasure they derived from the previous visits of Mr. Edward Branscombe's Costume Comedy Company, "The Scarlet Troubadours," from London, will welcome their return at the Theatre Royal on Monday and Tuesday next, where they will play a short farewell season of two nights. Entirely new programmes are advertised and will include costume scenes, musical and farcical comedy, operatic, sketches, pantomime bnrlesqne, lightning cartoons in colored chalks, and a host of clever and sparkling novelties, all presented with that care and attention to detail that is so strongly in evidence in all organisations under Mr. f-dwnrd Branscombrfs direction. Tho box plan is now open at Hoffmann's, where seats may be booked without extra charge.
, THE ROYAL PICTURES AXD ORCHESTRA. Tlio management of the Royal Pictures having secured a long lease of tlio Theatre Royal, will take possession on Saturday next, July 1, and will open on I that date with a complete new plant of the very latest models. The pick of the latest novelties in moving picture subjects will be presented with each biI weekly programme. A feature of the programmes to be presented will bo the educational, industrial and scenic series, but whilst endeavoring to educate by means of these pictures, the management will n!sg include the finest dramatic, humorous, colored and pantomimic films obtainable. A new electric lighting plant is to be included amongst the many improvements to bo brought about by the .new firm, and everything possible is being done to prevent danger from fire. To do this the management have imported ftaumont's latest non-firing model machine. A specially constructed fireproof operating-room is to be builtl, which will be in the hands of 'Mr. Cnrrie, who is credited with being an operator of the .highest rank. The incidental music will be provided by a full orchestra, which will be in charge of Mrs. Wood, who is well known; as a musician,' «nd is sure to provido' good music. Matinees are to be given every Saturday and holiday. The box plans for the opening programme will be opened at Mr. Hoffmann's on Thursday next.
