HAWKE'S KAY MEETING. YASMAIv WINS THE STEEPLECHASE. iiy Tel:graph. —Press Association, Hastings, Last Night. For the Hawke's Bay winter meeting fine weather was experienced. The attendance was fair. The totalisator receipts were £OI2B, as against £5636 for the first day of last year, an increase of £3593. Results: — Woodlands Hack Steeplechase Handicap, of 120 sovs; two miles. —Wanstead 1, Rosegrove 2, Pushful 3. Also started: Hoanga, Sunray, Sardonyx, Lionheart, Kohupatiki, and Castle Canter. Lionheart and Kohupatiki fell. Hoanga ran off the course, and Castle Cantei pulled up. Sardonyx was left at the post. Won without pressure by a length, Pushful i hundred yards away third. Time, 4min 39sec. Ladies' Bracelet, of 100 sovs. —Espar-tei-o 1. Peary 2, Amato 3. Also started: llilarian, Bunkum, Golden Water, Merrie Lad, Monsieur Soult, Longboat, Happy New Year, Water o' Milk. Won easily by half a length, a length between second and third. Time, 2min 49sec. Turamoe Handicap Hurdle Race, of 150 sovs.—Leolanter 1, Te Whetu 2. The only other starter (AVindage) fell. 9.11. Winiata and Aorangi fell. A splendid race. Yasmak came at the home turn, and won easily by ten lengths, Sir Lethe, fifteen lengths away third. Time, 6min 41scc. Wliakatu Hack Handicap Hurdles, one and three-quareter miles. —Napper 1, Captain Bell 2, D'Nil 3. Also .started: Cullinan, llovcr, Tina Toa, Artie, Killonan, Highden, The Rabbiter, Polynices and Whitostone. Captain Bell led for a mile and a half, vrhen Napper challenged and won by half a length. Time, 3min 24V 2 sec. Scurry Hack Handicap, of 100 sovs; six furlongs.—Projectile 1, Golden Circle 2, Gold liatterv 3. All started. Won by a length, two lengths between second and third. Time, lmin 19sec. Heretaunga Handicap.—Vi 1, Starboard 2, Eclogue .'i. Also started: Bliss, Humming Bird, Peacemaker, Arioni. Pohotu, Cork, Separator, Obscurity, and Burton. Won hy a nose, a length between second and third. Time, lmin 34sec.

Final Handicap, six furlongs,—Bliss 10.9, Happy Now Year and Eclogue 9.11, Seaweed 9.7, Cork 9.0, Gold Circle 9.3, Ililarian and Axis 9.0. T.J.C. METROPOLITAN COMMITTEE. The Metropolitan Committee met in the secretary's office on Tuesday evening. Present: Messrs. C. M. Lepper (in the chair), Sole, Nolan, L. B. Webster, Hempton, Standish, Blundell, and Weston. The Egmont Racing Club applied to have several names, and the Stratford Racing Club one name, placed on the unpaid forfeit list.
TARANAICI JOCKEY CLUB. COMMITTEE.
The Taranaki Jockey Club committee met subsequently. Permission was given to the North Taranaki Hunt to again have the use of the club's property for their annual race meeting to be held on September 7. The annual meeting of the Taranaki Jockey Club was arranged foe July 17, in the secretary's office.
It was decided that all arrears of nominations and acceptances arising from the February meeting, if not paid on July 11, be placed on the unpaid forfeit list.
A donation of £5 as to the committee set up I>y the Borough Council, and consisting of Messrs. F. P. CorkiH Paton. and the Rev. F. G. Evans, was' voted towards the improvement and planting of .John street, the club's caretaker also to render anv assistance that he could.
Accounts amounting to £4l 2s Gd wore passed for payment.
