A CHANCE FOR COLONIALS. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright London, June 20. Lord Haldane, in an address to 14i«i colonials, including New Zealandere, in the Duke of York's School, said he hoped that General Nicholson's scheme would be elaborated and the consultation with the chief colonial officers would result in a unified army of the Empire, and that the scheme would give overseas soldiers a chance of distinction, the power to interchange, and opportunities of becoming acquainted with the highest military system of Britain and other countries. Ho expressed the belief that the foundation of Imperial defence had ueen well and truly laid, and gave a lively sense that wo are living in days full of hope for the Empire.
