ROYAL PICTURES AXD ORCHESTRA. The Theatre Royal, having been taken over by Messrs Crust and Cjcdstcd, is receiving a thorough overhaul preparatory to the opening in New Plymouth on Saturday, July 1, The new amusement enterprise is to be known as the Royal Pictures and Orchestra. The best the picture world can supply will bo presented by .the new managers. Their experience in theatrical a flairs is of considerable standing. Until Messrs Crust and Gjcdsied are retiring from the managerial stall' of J. C. Williamson, Ltd. Having been associated with attractions of a high order for such a long time, their ideals will be to provide the public with the very best the world can oiler. Their programmes are promised to contain a most varied assortment. of scenic, industrial, dramatic and comic, studies. An interesting thing about pictures is the unlimited and inexhaustible supply of subjects. Kvery new event that happens is chronicled immeuiatety in pictures and provides a permanent record fur handing down to posterity. Special musicians are to be permanently employed in putting appropriate music to each picture, and the Royal Picture Orchestra will be a bright feature of the entertainment..
"THE SCARLET TROUBADOURS."
Theatre-goers will hail with delight the announcement that Mr. Edward Branscombe's Costume Comedy Company, "The Scarlet Troubadours," from London, are making another tour of Australia and New Zealand, as a farewell before leaving finally for England. Since their lirst visit in this part of the world—over three years ago—(hey have proved themselves one of the most popular compiini.cs of entertainers that Jiav# ever fbeen brought from England. High class solos and choruses, quartetes, musical comedy and burlesque; intermingled with quips and cranks and plenty of fun-making of a versatile and refined nature that has made these gifted entertainers so popular the world over will be included in their programme. Ihey are booked to appear at the Theatre Royal on Monday and Tuesday. 26th and 27th June, for two nights only. Further particulars will be advertised later. The box plan is at Collier's.
TO-NIGIIT'S CONCERT. Everything points to a. great success at the Imperial concert at the Theatre Royal to-night. As will be seen from the programme published elsewhere in this issue, the public will get good value for their money. The vocalists are all artists who have become very popular locally and in their own districts, and the items are all excellently suited to the occasion. The pictures are a special set, and will include some good scenics, viz., "Cormorant Fishing in Japan," and "Caspian Seaports." There are star dramas, entitled, "The Courtship of Michael Standish," and 'The old water jar." "The Dissolution of-Parliament" and "The Courting of the Merry Widow" will provide the huiworous aspect.
