AVIATOR'S BAD LUCK.

MR. HAMMOND TAKEN ILL. Palmerston North, .Tune 19. Mr. ,T. J. Hammond, the well-known aviator, who arrived from Sydney last Wednesday 011 a visit to Ills relatives at Feilding, was brought into Palmerston North yesterday, suffering from a severe attack of appendicitis. Mr. Hammond was operated upon today by Dr. Willis (Feilding), and Dr. Martin (Palmerston North). His condition at th!> time of sending this message was very serious indeed. The aviator's mother and brother are with him at Palmerston North. Mr. Con. Hammond, brother of the aviator, motoring in from Feilding, was run into by a motor cyclist. Mr. Hammond was thrown over the wind screen of the ear, but escaped without any very serious injury. The ear was badly damaged. The motor cyclist sustained injuries which necessitated his admission to the hospital.
