BY-ELECTION RESULTS. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, June 16. The hy-elcction for Ross and Cromarty, caused by the death of Mr. Weir, resulted: MacPherson (Liberal) 3717, Templeton (Unionist) 1253. The by-election at Brighton, caused by the elevation' of the Hon. W. F. Rico to the peerage, resulted in the return of the Hon. W. Gordon (Unionist) unopposed. A MEAT QUESTION. London, June 10. In the House of Commons, Sir E. Strachey, secretary to the Board of Agriculture, in reply to Mr. Bowerman, said it was almost impossible to prove that a trade description applied to meat was false owing to the difficulty of establishing the actual country of origin. The Board of Agriculture would be glad to receive particulars of specific cases.
