CAVES IN EAST AFRICA
A remarkable system of subterranean caves in Herman East Africa has been discovered and partly explored by Father Ambrnsius. a Roman Catholic missionary, and Kerr Tlmrmann. a Herman official. The oaves are situated in the Matumbi Mountains and natives never ventured further than a small srrotto. the first one encountered, as thev said an evil spirit dwell within. The two explorers discovered a hole at the end of this grotto which led to a cavern .1300 feet in lenprf.li. filled with deep pools in wlncii stranrrp eel-like fish lived. Slalaclife* and stalagmites 2o feet in lemrih were plentiful here. Further searches resulted in the discovery of other husrc caves at deeper levels.'
