Following a thunderstorm a huge wave l>roke over the sea front at Trieste wharves, and swamped the railway. The tramlines were torn up, and eight Austrian Lloyds boats broke from their moorings. Damage to the extent of a million sterling is estimated. One hundred people were killed.
