The convention closed with a women's meeting in the Town Hall in the evening. when a crusade was inaugurated against the drink traffic. Mrs. A. R. Atkinson presided. The speakers were Miss Anderson Hughes and Mrs. Barton. The latter said the young women of New Zealand were going to form a union and pledge themselves, "Lips that touch wine shall never touch mine." At the conclusion of the meeting the women stood and repeated the ''Crusader pledge."
