A citizens' meeting was held in the Tcwn Hall to further the objects of the Mawson Antarctic expedition, iiie Lord Mayor presided, and the Liaut.(lovernor, Professor David and others addressed the meeting. The Shellield Choir's opening concert was ;] splendid success. The Town IIV was densely packed, and in spite of ail the scats having been booked days ago hundreds fruitlessly sought admission The rendering of Handel's "Messiah" b over two hundred picked voices, accompanied by Dr. Gounod on the organ, was a revelation. The vast audience wi. thrilled and enthusiastic.
