The Rosamond left Wellington yesterday for Nelson and New Plymouth, omitting the usual call at Picton. She is due here to-morrow. THE I'UKAKT. The Pukaki has been detained in the South, and is now not due here till Monday. ANOTHER COASTAL STEAMER.
Mh W. Signal, superintendent for Messrs Levin and Co.'s shipping department, leaves for England by the lonic on Friday to superintend the building of ft new steamer to replace the Himitangi (which was recently sold for the Chatham Islands trade) in the Wellington-Foxton-West Coast trade. The new vessel is to be somcwuat similar to the Himitangi, and is to be built in Scotland.
KAPITI COMES IN 1-0R COAL AND WATER.
The Pa tea Shipping Company's steamer Kapiti left Waitara yesterday for Wellington, but was unable to proceed against the gale bevoiul Opunake, and came back to New Plymouth for shelter, and also to take in coal and water.' She anchored some distance out, but lost an aiiclin;'. ;iinl hud to come in and seek a snug berthage alongside the wharf.
